Cinco de Mayo, (Spanish for “Fifth of May”) is an annual celebration held on May 5. The date is observed to commemorate the Mexican Army’s unlikely victory over French forces at the Battle of Puebla, on May 5, 1862, under the leadership of General Ignacio Zaragoza.

In Avondale, this is the day the streets come alive with activity as Western Avenue is closed, stages are constructed and more than 5,000 people come out each year to celebrate with Mariachi groups, Folklorico dancers, great Mexican food and Lucha Libre wrestling!

Goosebump helped the City of Avondale develop this event back in 2013 and we have been producing all aspects of the event ever since.
